22 Florentin Street

The hem from Monday is still waiting.

A plain hem left on Monday morning is ready on Wednesday from 15:00. Monday counts as day one.

Seam Room is a clothing workshop at 22 Florentin Street, in south Tel Aviv. We hem trousers, skirts, and dresses. We replace zips, take in a waist, and mend what can be mended cleanly. We also cut a small amount of simple made-to-measure: a shirt, a plain pair of trousers, a straight skirt, a day dress.

We do not make haute couture, and we do not cut wedding gowns. A wedding dress that already exists can be hemmed here, if you give us the date and the shoes. Leather, suede, and fur do not come through the door. The full cloth list is on the cloth page.

₪58 A hem. Plain trousers or jeans, three working days.
₪125 A waist, taken in at the side seams or the centre back.
60 days How long the piece stays after the ready date. Then it does not.
13:00 A fitting, until 17:00, and only if we named the afternoon.

At the counter

VAT at 18% is already in the figure. These six lines open onto the pages. The whole list, with the VAT inside each price, is below.

Measure, stitch, press

Measure

The length is the length with the shoe you will wear. A heel of seven centimetres and a flat shoe are different hems. There is a low board so the heel is not in the dust, and a mirror. If you ask for a number and skip the mirror — “2 cm up, no fitting” — the cloth we cut off is gone.

Stitch

Casual cotton and most jeans get a machine hem. Suit wool usually gets a blind hem, so the thread does not draw a hard line on the face of the cloth. Viscose, cupro, and some silks are sewn by hand, from the wrong side. If the silk splits when we pinch a fold, we do not take it.

Press

Wool is pressed with a cloth between the iron and the fabric. A bare iron leaves a shine you cannot brush out. Linen is pressed, and then creased again on the walk to Abarbanel. That is the cloth. A sharp crease will not survive Florentin Street.

From the door to the rail

  1. 01 Morning

Drop-off is 9:00 to 12:00, Sunday to Friday. Bring the garment clean, and the shoes you will actually wear.

  2. 02 The ticket

One part stays with you. One goes on the spike. Name, phone, the job, the price, the ready day, and damage already in the cloth.

  3. 03 Noon

New drop-offs stop. Pins come out, the machines start, and hems go first, because they have the shortest count of days.

  4. 04 The mirror

Fittings are 13:00 to 17:00, Sunday to Thursday, and only if we named the afternoon. We pin. You look. Then we sew.

  5. 05 The note

When the work is ready we write to the phone on the ticket. Collection is from 15:00, or Friday morning if the ticket says so.

  6. 06 The rail

You pay when it leaves, cash or card. Sixty days after the ready date, the garment does not stay.

Hours, in plain terms

Drop-off is a morning thing. Fittings are not. If you arrive at four in the afternoon with a pair of trousers, we will ask you to come back in the morning. The afternoon is the machines, and the fittings that were already booked.

Sunday–Thursday
Door 9:00–18:00. Drop-off 9:00–12:00, no appointment. Fittings 13:00–17:00, by appointment only. Collection 15:00–18:00.
Friday
Door 9:00–13:00. Drop-off until 12:00. Collection of work already marked ready. No fittings. A Friday drop-off starts counting on Sunday.
Saturday
Closed. No drop-off, no collection, no fitting, and no confirmation of a booking.

Working days are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Friday and Saturday are not counted in the ready time. A plain hem left on Monday morning is ready on Wednesday from 15:00: Monday counts as day one. The same hem left on Thursday morning is ready on Monday. The same hem left on Friday morning is ready on Tuesday.

The prices below are the counter prices for work accepted from October 2026. They include VAT at 18%. They sit in the range Tel Aviv alteration rooms were charging this year for ordinary cloth: a trouser hem somewhere between 40 and 90 shekels, a dress hem between about 50 and 150 once a lining is involved, a replaced zip between about 60 and 220, and a waist taken in between about 80 and 200. If the cloth, a lining, or a bit of beading changes the job, we say so before we cut a thread. The figure on your ticket is the one that counts.

Price list

Every price includes VAT at 18%. On a tax invoice we split it properly: divide the inclusive price by 1.18 to see the amount before VAT. Do not subtract 18% from the price you see here, or the VAT line will be wrong. On ₪78, the amount before VAT is ₪66.10 and the VAT is ₪11.90.

A tax invoice (חשבונית מס) is written on request, in the name of Seam Room Ltd., company number 516428372. Ask when you collect, or say so on the ticket if the invoice has to go to an office.

“Ready” counts working days, and the day you leave the garment in the morning is day one. The figure under each price is the VAT inside it, not an extra.

Made-to-measure is booked as a fitting, not as a morning drop-off. What we will and will not cut is written on the measure page. If you bring your own cloth, the making charge is lower and the cloth has to be on the list we accept.

Silk, a hand finish on cloth that marks, more than two layers, and any beading we have agreed to move are priced after we see the piece. A rush inside the stated days is rare. We only offer it when the table is actually clear, and the extra is written on the ticket before we start. We do not take a wedding hem in the five working days before the ceremony.

How a week works

Sunday morning the door opens at nine. The first hour is mostly neighbours: a pair of jeans from a shift nearby, a school skirt, a wool trouser that needs two centimetres and the crease kept. Each garment gets a paper ticket in two parts. One part stays with you. One part goes on the spike. The ticket has your name, a phone number, the job in ordinary words, the price, the day it should be ready, and anything that was already wrong with the cloth.

We write the existing damage before the garment goes on the table. A pale mark on a knee, a pulled thread at a pocket, a lining that is already shredding. You see it on your copy. If you disagree, say so before you leave. After noon the new drop-offs stop. Pins come out, the machines start, and hems go first because they are the promises with the shortest count of days.

That ticket is four working days because an original jeans hem is slower than a plain cut. Monday counts. Thursday afternoon it is on the rail. A plain hem on the same Monday morning would say Wednesday.

Fittings, if any were booked, sit between 13:00 and 17:00. There is a mirror and a low board, so a heel is not standing in the dust of the floor. We pin. You look. Then we sew. We do not sew a hem you have not seen, unless you asked for a number and we wrote it on the ticket: “2 cm up, no fitting.” If that number turns out too short, there may be no cloth left to let down. That is the risk of skipping the mirror, and we will say it when you ask.

Tuesday is often the iron: wool with a cloth over the face of the fabric, linen pressed and then, honestly, creased again by the walk to Abarbanel. Linen does that. We will not pretend a sharp crease will survive Florentin Street. Wednesday is when a simple shirt, if one was cut the week before, might have its second fitting. The first fitting was measures and cloth. The second is the shirt, on you, with the collar and the cuff still open enough to change.

Thursday is collection day for Monday’s plain hems, and the last full day we like to start a job that someone wants early the following week. If you need a suit sleeve before a flight, say the calendar date in the first message. “As soon as possible” is not a date we can plan. Friday the room is open from 9:00 to 13:00. People collect, and a few people leave a Monday job. The machines stop at 13:00. There are no fittings. Saturday the door is locked. The ticket says so. A WhatsApp sent on Saturday is read on Sunday morning. It is not a booking, and we do not send a confirmation that day.

When the work is ready we send a short note to the phone on the ticket. If you do not use WhatsApp, say so and we will call. Collection is from 15:00, Sunday to Thursday, or on Friday morning if the ticket says Friday. Bring the ticket if you still have it. Your name and the garment are enough if you do not. You pay when you collect, before it leaves the rail: cash or card. The terms of what happens if a garment stays here are on the terms page. Sixty days after the ready date, it does not stay.

Questions we answer every week

Can I leave a hem without an appointment?

Yes, if you come between 9:00 and 12:00 on a day we are open. Sunday to Friday. An ordinary hem, zip, button, or tear does not need a message first. A fitting does. Made-to-measure does. A wedding dress does, because we have to know the date before we agree to take it.

What do I bring for a hem?

The garment, clean, and the shoes you will actually wear. A heel of seven centimetres and a flat shoe are different hems. If you are still deciding, bring both and we will pin to the one you choose. Bring the belt if the trousers only sit properly with it. More of this is on the hems page.

Do you work on Saturday?

No. The room is closed. We do not collect, we do not fit, and we do not confirm a job. Write on Sunday, or leave the garment on a morning we are open.

How does a wedding hem work?

Tell us the date in the first message. We want the dress at least ten working days before the ceremony, and we will not start a wedding hem inside the five working days before it. Bring the shoes, and the underlayer if there is one. The hem is pinned, hung, and looked at again. The price for an ordinary wedding hem is ₪420 including VAT. Lace that has to be cut motif by motif is often a refusal. Ask, and bring the dress in, before you count on us.

Are these prices with VAT?

Yes. Eighteen percent, included. The figure under each price is the VAT inside it, not an extra. The ready date and the price are both written on the ticket before we start.

Can you copy a dress I saw in a magazine?

No. Simple made-to-measure means a shirt, plain trousers, a straight skirt, or a day dress from a pattern we already cut. It does not mean a copy of a named design, a boned bodice, or a gown. If that is the job, we will say so at the first conversation and point you toward a dressmaker who does that work.

What if the cloth already has a hole?

We write it on the ticket. We are not responsible for damage that was already there, or for cloth that was already weak. If we cause a new fault, we repair it or refund the job. The detail is in the terms.

What if I forget to collect?

You have sixty days from the ready date on the ticket. We will message the phone number you gave us. After that we may give the garment away or dispose of it. We are not a cloakroom. Please do not leave a wedding dress here “until next spring.”

From the door, on foot

This is a walking list from 22 Florentin Street, written in the room. It is not a live map, and it does not update with traffic. Times are about right at a normal pace. The streets immediately around the door are Florentin itself, Abarbanel, HaMashor, and Tsrifin.

If you are coming from the old central bus station, walk west through Neve Sha'anan and then into Florentin. It is a straightforward quarter of an hour if you do not stop. Buses run on Salame and on Eilat; we do not publish a line number because they change. The door, the bell, and where to stand are described on the room page.

To ask for a job, write the garment, the job, and the date you need it. Nothing is held until we reply. How to book.
